GLASS

Vintage glass replacement

"I took a 64 1/2 Mustang to Charlie some 30+ years ago. He did such a professional job on restoration on that vintage vehicle, that I later took a Torino to him for similar service. I can remember how proud I was to show off both vehicles to anyone willing to look. I am glad to see that, many years later, he is still in business. I would personally recommend Montrose Upholstery, not only from personal experience, but also from the
longevity that the business has in Richmond. You do not last this long, if you do not take care of your customer."

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Montrose Glass was an established business owned by a Mr. Moore and was located in the Montrose area off of Williamsburg Avenue in Fulton Bottom (Richmond, Virginia).  Charlie Roark visited Mr. Moore in November 1977 to inquire about a Singer sewing machine to purchase.  Charlie had been working for someone else doing upholstery for several years and he had heard that Mr. Moore was selling his business and equipment.  Charlie ended up buying that machine, a Singer 111W155, and buying the business too.  Mr. Moore told Charlie it was a golden opportunity.

With the help of many friends and family members, especially his dad, LF Roark, the new Montrose Upholstery & Glass was quickly up and operating in January 1978 near the Richmond Airport.  Forty-one years later, Montrose Upholstery & Glass, and that Singer sewing machine, are still going strong.

While Charlie is responsible for much of the creativity that goes into custom work, his loyal employee, Ed Carter, has been at Charlie’s side for the last 23 years helping him to design and complete their projects.

Charlie and Ed have many years experience doing automotive, marine and all other types of upholstery work.  Many of their finished projects have been recognized at car shows and in print media throughout the U.S., including the recent 2019 Sema Car Show in Las Vegas.
